Kirstin Bernice Hernandez and Andre Manuel Ramos
Mr. and Mrs. Abel & Cecelia Hernandez of Bakersfield are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter Kirstin B. Hernandez to Dr. Andre M. Ramos, son of Alga M. Vega and stepfather, the late William P. Vega of Bronx, NY.
Kirstin is a 1994 graduate of Bakersfield High School and earned her B.A. degree at the University of California, Berkeley. She taught high school math in the Bay Area prior to pursuing her Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After leaving Boston, she worked in Chicago Charter Schools before returning to the Bay Area. Kirstin works for Partners for School Innovation, a non-profit organization in San Francisco.
Andre is a 1991 graduate from Lake Weir High School in Ocala, FL. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and then worked with Teach for America. He pursued his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and then served his residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Ramos works as a Pediatrician with The Permanente Medical Group in Hayward, CA.
Kirstin and Andre met through a mutual friend in San Francisco. They will exchange their vows, with family and friends present, on Nov. 13, 2009, at the Villa Montana Resort in Isabela, Puerto Rico. A local post-wedding reception will follow to celebrate their marriage. They will reside in Oakland, CA.
