ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy they say beat a duck to death with a golf club in Southern California.

Detective Melissa Ramirez says video of the alleged attack Wednesday at an Ontario golf course was posted to social media.

She says authorities were alerted to the video and after an investigation they arrested the teen at his home early Thursday.

The boy was cited for felony animal abuse and released to the custody of his parents.

The remains of the bird were recovered at Whispering Lakes Golf Course east of Los Angeles.
