"America's favorite" California Chrome has drawn the No. 2 gate position at the 146th running of the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, N.Y.

The draw came just minutes ago in the clubhouse at Belmont Racetrack at the annual draw breakfast.

"It's a good post," said Steve Coburn, a onetime Bakersfield resident and co-owner of the phenomenal 3-year-old colt.

"It's going to be a jockey's race," Coburn told The Californian. The legendary Secretariat was in the No. 2 position when he won the Belmont Stakes in 1973, he said.

Victor Espinoza, CC's jockey was upbeat.

"I like No. 2," Espinoza said. "I hope it is my lucky number."
