ADELANTO -- The High Desert Mavericks ripped five doubles and erased a four-run deficit on the way to an 8-4 victory over the Bakersfield Blaze Sunday in a California League baseball game.

Marquez Smith had a two-run homer and Seth Methias-Brean had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI for the Blaze, which led 4-0 after four innings.

After High Desert starter Jochi Ogando allowed all four Blaze runs in the fourth, relievers Will Mavis (4-1) and Grady Wood held Bakersfield scoreless. Mathis worked 2-1/3 innings, and Wood got the save, working three innings.
