Whether you have bowled in bowling league before or just bowled for fun, or never bowled before, summer leagues are a great time to join a bowling league and see if you like the sport of bowling. Summer leagues are usually smaller teams than winter leagues and only last a maximum of fifteen weeks.
Summer Ball leagues
"What a deal" for local bowlers looking to get a new ball or two this summer! With two separate bowling ball leagues running this summer, there is no reason you shouldn't have a brand new bowling ball or two in your bag.
Whether you bowl in one or both of this summer's ball leagues--Robb's Ball League at AMF Southwest Lanes (on Wible) on Thursday nights starting on May 15th, or the 19th annual Mega Ball League at Regency (on Real Road) on Tuesday nights starting on May 27--there's plenty of fun and excitement at both centers. For more info, call AMF Southwest Lanes at 834-2695 or Regency Bowling Center at 325-6428.
Printed summer league schedules are available at local centers. You can sign up as a team or sign up individually and be put on a team. Both of the above ball leagues are trio teams. Mega Ball is a mixed trio league while Robb's Ball league is any trio (men, women or mixed).

Weekly Super Scores
A couple of 300's to report that took place over the last two weeks for two very special local bowlers.
First one took place on April 7 when Ron Andrews fired his fourth 300 game this season bowling in the Bakersfield Scratch Trio league at Regency Lanes for his first game of the night. Wow, what a season for Andrews which started in early February when he bowled the dueling 300 game against Mike Hefley in the Tuesday Men's league at Regency, then 300 number 2 came the very next week, same pair, same league. Number 3 was rolled at AMF Southwest Lanes while he competed in the Mixed Doubles division of our 2014 Mixed City Tournament and then this one. He has a career total of ten perfectos.
Last Thursday, April 17, bowling in the Social Group league at Regency Lanes, Tim Gardea quietly shot a 300 game. It has been three years since he has had a 300 game.
