Bakersfield College sophomores Corey McDonald-Mitchell and Van Holloway were named to the 2013-2014 Western State All-Conference men's basketball team.
Freshmen Lawrence Moore was named honorable mention.
McDonald-Mitchell averaged 16.1 points and five rebounds this season and 18 points and 4.8 rebounds in WSC play. Holloway averaged 13.5 points a game in the WSC and shot 44 percent from 3-point range. Moore averaged 11.6 points, five rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.8 steals a game in conference.
Former Liberty High diver Lucy Lafranchise contributed 23 points to UC Davis' winning total at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Swimming and Diving championship on Saturday at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.
Lafranchise was 10th in platform diving, 9th in 1-meter diving and 11th in 3-meter diving and Davis clinched its third Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship in four seasons at the East Los Angeles College swimming venue in Monterey Park.
In other diving news, Liberty graduate Jacob Tittl of La Verne finished third Thursday in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Brenda Villa Aquatics Center in Commerce, and qualified for this weekend's NCAA Division III regionals at Grinnelle College in Iowa.
Tittl scored 446.20 in the prelims, and a 460.45 in the finals.
Tittl and teammate Scott MacKay, who was second int he SCIAC, will be the first two Leopards to compete in the NCAA Regionals and will look to qualify for the Division III National Championships in Indianapolis on March 19-22.
Sophomore Jordanne Barr from Frontier High shot a pair of 78s and Cal State Bakersfield is in 13th place after the first day of the 15-team Grand Canyon Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Barr is in 22nd, 11 shots out of the lead heading into today's final round.
Malea Miller is tied for 36th (81-81-162), Micah Lopez is tied for 66th (85-88-173),Tarah Steinbach is tied for 78th with Kelsey Petersen (96-86-182). Chandler Bullman is tied for 80th.
Bakersfield College finished fourth out of eight teams in the Western State Conference tournament at Rio Bravo Country Club.
Jeremy Choi and Suraj Patel each shot a 78, while Jack Gilkey had a 79 for the Renegades.
The Idaho Stampede used a 12-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to take control en route to a 103-99 victory over the Bakersfield Jam at the Dignity Health Event Center.
Bakersfield's Ike Diogu scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Terrel Harris added 17 points and 10 boards.
