Wasco's #3 Isaiah Sharp is brought down by Shafter's Nick Alexander in the first quarter.

Isaiah Sharp, a star at running back for Wasco High the past two seasons, has transferred to Frontier and will play for the Titans as a senior.

Frontier coach Rich Cornford confirmed Wednesday that Sharp had enrolled at the school this week.

Sharp ran for 1,349 yards and 19 touchdowns this past season despite missing three games because of a shoulder injury. As a sophomore, he ran for 2,317 yards and 34 touchdowns as Wasco went 14-0 and rolled to a Central Section Division IV championship.

JC men's basketball

VALLEY GLEN -- L.A. Valley College won its first men's basketball game of the season, beating Bakersfield College 73-69 in both teams' Western State Conference South Division opener.

BC (10-6) was led by Lawrence Moore and Corey Mitchell with 19 points each. Van Holloway and Dequan Green added 11 points each. Valley is 1-12.

JC women's basketball

VALLEY GLEN -- Stockdale graduate Leigha Moland finished with 24 points and four assists but it was not enough as Bakersfield College fell in its Western State Conference opener at L.A. Valley College, 75-70.

Nakia Page, another Stockdale product, added 22 points for the Renegades (5-9, 0-1 WSC).

Bakersfield will host West L.A. on Saturday.
