Bakersfield's Brandon Baggs, 16, has been named to Trap and Field's 2104 All American Team. Only the top 25 shooters nationally in a variety of categories are named to the team and Baggs is the only junior shooter from California to be honored. Selections to the team were based on points earned during the 2013 target year. To be eligible for the team, candidates had to meet minimum target requirements. For the Junior team,shooters must have competed in the championship events (all around, main singles, handicap and doubles) at All-American Qualifying Shoots in a minimum of three states or provinces. Baggs competed at the Tucson, Airz. Spring Grand; the 100th California State Shoot and the Western Zone Shoot in Spanish Fork, Utah.

The Norris Middle School varsity volleyball team, coached by Angie Widhalm, recently completed a 33-0 season, winning the Standard Middle, Norris Middle and Liberty High tournaments, as well as the 13th annual Junior Tournament of Champions in Oxnard, and the County Tournament. Penelope Zepeda was awarded MVP of the Oxnard Tournament. Kaitlyn Cooper, Kennadi Nelson and Sydney Trowbridge received all-tournament recognition. e Norris team went undefeated in their league. Zepeda was awarded team MVP. Kate Hamilton and Samantha Mabry were named Most Improved. Norris players: McKenzie Miller, Trowbridge, Kate Hamilton, Nelson, Zepeda.
