ONTARIO -- Rookie Matt White scored twice and the ECHL's two-time defending Pacific Division champion Ontario Reign earned a 3-0 season-opening win Saturday over the Bakersfied Condors at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Ontario got a strong start, tallying two goals in the first period before a sellout crowd of 8,953.

The first goal came from Mario Lamoureux at 7:12. Brady Calla dropped a pass back to Alex Roach at the blue line, and Roach fired a shot that was deflected by Condors goalie Paul Karpowich to Lamoureux, who slammed it in.

At the 14:45 mark, Ontario was on a power play after Bakersfield was assessed a delay-of-game penalty. White scored on a backhand shot for his first pro goal.

Adrian Van de Mosselaer set up the play when he ripped a long shot from the blue line for Dan DaSilva, who deflected it at the goal. Karpowich knocked it aside, but White, in front of the net, picked up the loose puck and wrapped it around and in.

The Reign limited the Condors to just one shot on goal through two periods.

White scored for the second time on another backhand past Karpowich. White picked up the puck from DaSilva at the inside hashes and sent a quick shot in for a 3-0 Ontario lead at 8:04 of the third period.

Michael Hutchinson stopped all 15 shots Condors shots for his ninth pro shutout win.

Karpowich made 23 saves on 26 shots for the Condors (0-2).

CSUB wins in volleyball

Cal State Bakersfield won its fourth straight Western Athletic Conference volleyball match with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 win over Texas-Pan American in the Icardo Center.

CSUB (13-9 overall, 5-3 WAC) had a solid .319 attack percentage. Debora Araujo had 13 kills and Kelsee Sawyer added 12 for CSUB. Fernanda Goncalves had 42 assists and Mariah Alvidrez added 16 digs.

CSUB hosts Seattle on Tuesday.
