Bakersfield College, 0-for-2 in its appeals of its football program sanctions, announced Monday it filed a third appeal, this time to the California Community College Athletic Association Board of Directors.
In May, the Southern California Football Association found BC to be non-compliant with California Community College Athletic Association Bylaw 2, which governs subsidizing, inducements, and special privileges. Seven violations were noted in three categories.
As a result of the SCFA findings, Bakersfield College's wins for the 2011 and 2012 football seasons were voided, including the 2012 CCCAA Championship game. The Bakersfield College football team has also been placed on a post-season ban for the 2013 season, and will be on probation for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
In June, the SCFA upheld the sanctions in BC's first appeal. In July, the CCCAA appeals board also rejected BC's appeal
The latest appeal is a re-presentation of the arguments presented in the earlier appeal to the SCFA and the CCCAA Appeals Board.
Carr family has a new addition
Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr, a Bakersfield Christian graduate, and his wife, Heather, welcomed their first child into the family Monday morning.
Dallas Mason Carr was born at 7 pounds, 10 inches, according to family reports on Twitter.
Derek Carr missed Fresno State's practice Monday but is expected back today. Former Bakersfield High and Bakersfield College quarterback Brian Burrell led Bulldogs' first-team offense in Carr's absence.
