Junior Arias and Juan Duran homered as part of a five-run first and the Bakersfield Blaze held on for a 10-7 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks in Sunday afternoon's California League baseball game at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Duran and Arias had three hits apiece, with Duran finishing with three RBIs.
The Blaze had five players with at least three hits, part of a 17-hit attack.
Steve Selsky had four hits, inluding a triple and double, and two RBIs, and Danny Vicioso and David Vidal added three hits apiece.
Vidal doubled in two runs in the fifth to give Bakersfield a 10-4 lead.
Mike Dennhardt (6-7) worked five innings to get the win for Bakersfield. He shook off a rough fourth when he allowed four runs, capped by a two-run home run by Lancaster's Tyler Heineman to trim the Blaze lead to 7-4.
The Blaze improved to 10-21 in the second half of the season with its second straight victory. Bakersfield closes out the three-game series with Lancaster tonight at 7:45.
Micah McCulloch went 5-for-5 with two RBIs and James Barragan pitched six strong innings as the Bakersfield Sound cruised past the SoCal Catch in a California Collegiate League baseball game at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
A.J. Steimal was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for the Soun.
Barragan, a Stockdale grad who will be a junior at CSUB, allowed two runs on four hits, striking out four to pick up the win.
Former Taft standout Steven Gee, who will be attending CSUB in the fall, worked 1-2/3 scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one.
