Marquez Smith and Juan Duran homered for the Blaze on Saturday in a 7-3 California League baseball victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Smith, who hit a solo homer in the first inning, went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Duran's homer was a two-run shot in the 8th.

Blaze starter Shane Dyer allowed three runs, none earned, over six innings. He struck out two, walked one and allowed four hits.

Carlos Gonzalez (1-0), who pitched 1-2/3 scoreless innings in relief, earned the victory.

Yorman Rodriguez had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, for Bakersfield.

Bakersfield improved to 25-37, and Lake Elsinore dropped to 22-40.

James Needy, the first of four Storm pitchers, worked six innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits and one walk. He struck out six.
