Bakersfield Blaze starting pitcher Carlos Contreras and injured reliever El'Hajj Muhammad were selected Friday to represent the California League at the 2013 California/Carolina League All-Star Game.

The matchup of the top Single-A players from the two leagues MLB-affiliated game will be played June 18 in San Jose. It will mark the first time that the team has hosted this event.

Contreras entered Friday with a 3-5 record and 3.63 ERA, which ranks first among Bakersfield pitchers with more than two starts and eighth in the California League. Muhammad, who will not play, has a 1-0 record, 1.82 ERA and five saves.

Lake Elsinore tops Blaze, 3-2

Lake Elsinore starter Matt Jackson allowed one run over six innings as the Storm beat the Bakersfield Blaze 3-2 on Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Blaze starter Jon Moscot allowed three runs over four innings to take the loss. Bakersfield relievers Brooks Pinckard (one inning), Kyle Lotzkar (two innings) and Jimmy Moran (two innings) combined to throw five innings of shutout relief.

Kyle Waldrop hit a solo home run for Bakersfield, which hosts Lake Elsinore again tonight at 7:45 p.m.

Juan Silverio and Steve Selsky each doubled for Bakersfield, which totalled six hits.

Lake Elsinore collected 12 hits on the night. Leadoff hitter Travis Jankowski went 3-for-4 with a double, and four other Storm hitters had two hits each.
