The 11U Roadrunner United FC 01 Oro team went 4-0 and outscored opponents 17-3 on the way to winning a championship in the 2013 Legends Classic soccer tournament in Orange County. Roadrunner United beat Chelsea in t and came home champions in the U11 group by beating Chelsea in the final for its fourth tourney title of the year. Students from the Japan Martial Arts Academy of Bakersfield were busy this weekend competing in two regional tournaments. Twelve students competed in the Order of the Dragon Tournament in Bakersfield. Dylan Guillermo (220 pounds, pictured on right) and Daniel Schoene earned spots on the California Cadet national wrestling team which will compete at the 2013 Cadet National Duals in Daytona Beach, Fla., June 10-16. The Greco-Roman wrestling event will feature teams from 38 states. Guillermo, a 10th grader at Bakersfield High, placed second at the cadet state meet last month to qualify for nationals. Schoene, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound 8th grader at Tevis Junior High, is a two time USAW state champion and state triple crown champion in 2012 who will attend Bakersfield High next year and play football as well as wrestle.
