SAN MATEO -- Bakersfield College sophomore Tejera Dial finished second in the women's 800 meters Saturday with a time of 2:17.61 at the California Community College Track and Field Championships at College of San Mateo.
Dial, the Southern California champion, was beaten by College of the Sequoias' Melissa Leyva, who clocked in at 2:15.21.
The Renegades had two other participants on Saturday. Freshman Natalie O'Dwyer was fifth in the women's 400 with a 55.99 and freshman Alicia Torres was seventh in the women's shot with a 42-9.
BC tied for 17th in the women's team scoring with 17 points. The BC men tied for 31st with four points.
Riverside easily won the men's title, scoring 151 points to overwhelm runner-up Mount San Antonio (60). Cerritos outscored Laney 91-81 to win the women's title.

Tickets to the Second Annual ROWDYs Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of Cal State Bakersfield student athletes, are on sale with a buy-one, get-one free promotion for $50.
The June 3 event will be held at the Dore Theater. Seventeen individual and team awards will be presented for honors such as best individual performance, best academic performance, best team turnaround and best team performance.
