For the second straight night, the San Jose Giants pulled away late to hand the Bakersfield Blaze its consecutive loss, 6-1, Wednesday at Sam Lynn Ballpark

James Allen (1-4) got the starting nod for the Blaze, and despite throwing the ball well, took the tough-luck loss for the second straight outing.

After two scoreless innings, Allen retired the leadoff man in the third before San Jose's Chris Lofton doubled to the gap in right-center. The very next batter Myles Schroder took the first pitch and smashed a deep drive over the wall in right, and the Giants led 2-0.

The Blaze got one back in the bottom half of the inning when Juan Perez doubled with one out, Juan Silverio singled him to third, and Dominic D'Anna brought him home on a base hit to right.
