SEATTLE -- Stephon Carter's 15-foot jump shot with three seconds left lifted Cal State Bakersfield to a 75-74 overtime win Wednesday night over Seattle University.
The Roadrunners (13-16) had fallen behind when Seattle's Chad Rasmussen drilled a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left.
Seattle (8-20) had a last possession but turned the ball over when a long inbounds pass sailed out of bounds. CSUB inbounded and ran out the clock.
The Red Hawks tied the game at the end of regulation on Prince Obasi's layup with 11 seconds left. CSUB's Corey Hall missed a layup with six seconds left that could have won it.
Tyrone White had 27 points, going 7-for-13 on 3s, and Brandon Barnes had 19 with a game-high 11 rebounds to lead CSUB. Carter, CSUB's all-time career scoring leader, had 12 points and a team-high five assists.
CSUB led 27-26 at halftime and held the lead the entire second half until Seattle used a 9-2 run to pull even at 61.
Seattle had two one-point leads in overtime, the Red Hawks' only leads after halftime.
Rasmussen had 13 points and Louis Green added 11 to lead Seattle.
CSUB, currently a Division I independent, is joining the Western Athletic Conference on July 1. Seattle is a member of the WAC. CSUB ends its season on Saturday against another future WAC opponent, Utah Valley, in Orem, Utah.
