BOGOTA, Colombia -- Bakersfield native Bhavik Patel rebounded from a triple bogey on his first hole Saturday to fire a 2-under 69, placing him fourth at the Colombia Championship.
Patrick Cantlay and Jim Renner share the 54-hole lead at 13-under. Shane Bertsch is in third at 10-under and Patel is 10-under entering today's final round.
Patel yanked his first tee shot on the opening hole of his third round at the Web.com Tour event, leading to the triple bogey.
"I was a little nervous but my right foot just slipped," said Patel in a tour press release. "Maybe I tried to swing a little too hard but when my foot slipped I just yanked it. After that I just told myself to keep fighting. I knew there were plenty of chances to come back."
After the first hole, Patel shot 5-under over the next seven, with a eagle on the par-5 eighth. He was even-par on the back nine. Patel, a 22-year-old rookie on the Web.com Tour, missed the cut in his first event last week.
