Stockdale High graduate and former Cal State Northridge pitcher Kyle Jean has announced the expansion of his youth speed and strength facility, Pinnacle Performance Institute.

The 4,000-square-foot athletic performance enhancement business is at 6610 Downing Ave., in northwest Bakersfield.

"I've always been fascinated with the way our bodies move and how to optimize that moment," Jean said in a statement. "As a performance coach, I am dedicated into helping athletes reach their goals, whether it be speed, strength, agility, power, weight loss, weight gain or any combination thereof."

Jean earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology at Northridge and a Master's degree in biomechanics at San Diego State.

Pinnacle offers youth speed and strength training geared to ages 10-13, and also offers a PASS (power, agility, speed, strength) program for its high school and collegiate athletes.

For adults, Pinnacle will offer a fitness and weight-loss program called AthleteFIT.

"I've taken the way I train my younger athletes and modified it to the adult population," Jean said.

Pinnacle will be offering free two-week trials of its programs starting Monday. A grand opening is set for 10 a.m. March 2. For more information, call (661) 374-FAST or visit
