The Roadrunner United FC Boys-01 Oro team won the 11U First Division championship in the Irvine Winter Classic, beating DMS 11 Academy 4-0 in the final. The American Academy Optional team started its season with a successful trip to Las Vegas, with all 4 gymnasts competing well against some of the top gyms in California. In Level 7, Datiah Towns scored an average of 9.4 on her events to take second all around with a 37.6. McKenna Davis posted scores of 9.2 in the vault and floor and placed sixth with a 36.075. In Level 8, Alexa Schacher won the all-around (35.8) and beam (9.2). In Level 9, Kayla Cross, managed remarkable finishes of second place on floor (8.675) and 4th all-around in her return to competition after a three-year absence following an injury and hip surgery.

Bakersfield Amateur Softball Association Girls League signups for spring session are set for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 23) at the BASA fields (Rosedale North Park, 3635 Jewetta Ave., Bakersfield, 93312). Fees are $100 for the 6U division and $135 for 8U, 10U, 12U, 15U divisions. Girls playing in 10U, 12U, 15U division must be rated on their hitting, fielding and throwing skills.
