The inaugural Foothill High School Athletic Hall of Fame class won't lack for familiar names.

NFL All-Pro Joey Porter, NBA All-Star Lonnie Shelton and the coach synonymous with Foothill, Ned Permenter, will be among the inductees, as will the Trojans' 1988 boys basketball state championship team.

Other inductees are: Gary Blackford (football), Jeff Houghton (football), Mike Ackerley (football), John Ackerley (football), Cheryl Alexander (tennis), Darrel Nerove (wrestling), Bob Ezell (coach), Dave Edmonson (coach), Ted Oliver (coach), Dr. Richard Polson (contributor) and Dr. Bill Baker (contributor).

Eubank named AD of Year

Taft High athletic director Marsha Eubank was this week named the Central Section's Athletic Director of the Year, as voted upon by a committee of section ADs.

Eubank, 49, has been the Wildcats' athletic director since 2004. Before that, she coached girls basketball, winning section titles in 1999 and 2000.

"It's an honor being selected by your peers," Eubank said in a prepared statement. "I have a lot of help at Taft Union High School. It's not just a reflection of me. I think it's a reflection of our district."

She also was named female athletic director of the year by the California Coaches Association for the 2009-10 school year.

Rams in water polo All-Star game

Two Garces water polo players were selected for the Kiwanis All-Star East/West Water Polo Games on Saturday.

The Garces girls, who reached the Central Section Division III championship, will be represented by Joei Garcia. John Samson will play for the Rams boys.

Both will play for the East team in a game between teams from Tulare County and Kings County.

Garces has the only water polo program in Kern County.
