LEMOORE -- Enrique Salazar threw a pair of touchdown passes and West High rode a stout defensive performance to a 17-3 victory over Lemoore in a Central Section Division II football quarterfinal Friday night.
The 11th-seeded Vikings (6-6) intercepted three passes and blocked a punt against the No. 3 Tigers (7-4), giving West its second straight road playoff win. The Vikings will play at No. 2 Sanger in the D-II semifinals next Friday.
Salazar connected with Kamron McKinney on a 17-yard score to give West a 7-3 lead with 7 seconds remaining in the first half. Lemoore jumped offside on a West field goal attempt one play earlier, giving the Vikings a first down.
The Vikings put the game out of reach on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Salazar to Micah Mitchell in the fourth quarter. Javaundre Howington set up the score with his second interception of the night. McKinney later added a pick on a fake punt attempt by Lemoore.
