Quarterback Kamari Cotton-Moya ran for 322 yards and six touchdowns, and also passed for a TD, to lead Ridgeview to 56-35 victory over Delano in a Central Section Division III quarterfinal.

The Wolf Pack totaled 502 rushing yards, with Cotton-Moya accounting for 261 in the first half. He also passed for 148 passing yards and a touchdown on 5-of-15 passing.

Running back Brandon Tripp carried had 150 yards a score on 13 carries.

The Wolfpack (9-2) never trailed.

Delano (6-6) kept the game close in the first quarter, but Cotton-Moya dashed through the Tigers' defense for a 48-yard touchdown late in the first half and didn't let up in the second half.

Delano scored back-to-back touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but Cotto-Moya ran for a 25-yard TD to put the game away.

Ridgeview will play Independence in the semifinals next week.


Division III quarterfinalIndependence 26, South 12

Khalil Ealy ran for 108 yards and a touchdown to lead the Falcons in a Central Section Division III playoff quarterfinal victory over the Rebels.

South (7-3) committed 10 penalties for 98 yards, including four personal fouls by the defense on third-down situations that kept host Independence drives alive.

"We played real sloppy tonight, and we've got a lot of stuff to fix before we play Ridgeview next week," Independence Coach Sean McKeown said. "I couldn't give anyone an MVP award tonight, there were too many mental mistakes. If we play this kind of game against Ridgeview next week, we'll get beat."

Falcons QB Preston Hodges rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, and also passed for 57 yards, including an 11-yard TD strike to Malcom Johnson.

Quarterback Keith Evans led South with 44 rushing yards, and completed 8-of-12 passes for 63 yards.

"The penalties weren't good, but what killed us was the the three turnovers in the red zone," South coach John Wren.


Division IV quarterfinalBakersfield Christian 34, Fowler 25

Matt Smith finished with 184 yards on 40 carries to lead the Eagles to a quarterfinal victory at home.

Bakersfield Christian was nursing a 27-25 lead before quarterback Jake Thompson connected with Robert Keathley for a 33-yard touchdown to put the game on ice. It was the second scoring connection for the pair on the night.

The Eagles (9-2) will travel to No. 2 Tulare-Mission Oak in the Division IV semifinals. Mission Oak defeated No. 10 Hanford West 35-7.


No. 1 Wasco 54 No. 8 Arvin 14

WASCO -- Iaaiah Sharp led Wasco's strong ground game with 145 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a Central Section past the Bears.

It was just one big play after another for the Tigers (11-0), who had five players score touchdowns.

Terrence Grinner rushed for 93 yards on six carries and scored a TD, and Casper Lopez ran for 84 yards on four carries with a TD.

Kyle Wedel passed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for a 5-yard touchdown.

Wasco struck early, rolling up a 28-0 lead in the first quarter, all four scores coming on big running plays.

The first one, a Sharp 32-yard run in the Tigers' second offensive series, was followed by three more big TD runs in the last two minutes of the quarter.

The Tiger defense was solid as well, holding the Bears to 135 yards rushing and 57 yards passing.

Orlando Perez led Arvin with 62 yards on 25 carries. Jordan Wood completed 5-of-13 passes for 57 yards.
