The Bakersfield Rebels 10U girls softball team went 5-0 to win the NSA Hanford Ghost and Goblins Tournament in Hanford on Oct. 27-28, improving their overall record to 12-2-1. The 18U Bakersfield Dodgers summer travel baseball team recently went 3-1-1 to finish tied for fifth in the 48-team Desert Classic, a national tournament in Las Vegas. The Dodgers featured players from 11 local high schools: Harrison Smith, Logan Gillespie, Todd Nicks, Kyle Adkins, Tristan Hammans, Jack Mulville, CJ McAninch, Mason Perryman, Zack McHone, Austin Toerner, Luis Martinez, Caleb Hewes and Austin Pendergrass. Coaches were Duane Mulville, Rick Sawyer, Pat Hewes and George Culver.

The Blackout Soccer Club's 18U and 17U teams display jerseys the club had made to supports breast cancer awareness during October. The club's players wear the jerseys in all of their games in October. Club coaches are Sean Sullivan, Brian Butterworth and Al Medina. Club managers are Rocki Parnell, Sherri Knudsen and Julie Work. The club was established in 2005.

The Kern Community Tennis Association kicked off the holiday season early on Saturday, inviting the community out for a day of tennis. Participants donated toys for the Marines Toys For Tot drive and received two hours of free tennis drills, as well as a gift certificate to Sequoia Sandwich Company or Action Sports. Making the event possible for the KCTA was Cliff Drysdale Tennis, Sequoia Sandwich Co., Action Sports, Sergent Garrison and the Marines, Mark Fredriskz, Hank Pfister, Teri Lynott, Jonni Seymour, Chuck Beatty, Chuck Provencio, Adrian Magallanes and the tennis community.
