Well into spring, the honors keep rolling in for Derek Carr.
The Bakersfield Christian quarterback was named National Player of the Year by the National Private Schools Athletic Association.
Carr, who has already enrolled to play college football at Fresno State, was joined by five BCHS teammates on the NPSAA All-American team.
Ryan Boschma was a first-team defensive lineman, Jake Peterson a second-team wide receiver and Aryton Oliver a second-team linebacker. Wide receiver Colby Herron was named to the third team.
In addition, Brad McNaughton, Christian Taylor, Marcus Hall, Shawn Garrett and Taylor Roche were named to an NPSAA All-Region team.
Bakersfield Christian finished last fall 12-1 and Central Section Division V champions.
Carr threw for 4,067 yards and 46 touchdowns -- both totals were second-best in section history -- against just nine interceptions in his only year at BCHS. He transferred from the Houston area after his junior year.
