I understand there is a water shortage, and we all need to conserve, but a $500 fine is crazy. What if the wind blows when my sprinklers are running and they water the sidewalk? Another $500 for the government to waste. What if the water pressure changes (mine does when other people are watering their lawns)? A $500 fine because you set the sprinklers when the water pressure was lower.

I could see maybe two warnings then a fine, but a fine first time is just wrong. My property value depends on my landscaping, which I have money invested in. I guess I am just supposed to let it all die. Maybe if we had less people sneaking into California in violation of the law (who don't get fined), we would have more water to spare for the taxpayers who are here legally.
