I disagree with the Oct. 31 letter about Merle Haggard and moving the converted boxcar he grew up in ("Museum shouldn't pay for move"). Merle Haggard grew up here and is one of the best singer/songwriters in the business.

George H.W. Bush didn't live here very long and his eldest son, that other president, George W. Bush, wasn't much more than an infant at the time. Neither was Buck Owens a Bakersfield native.

I say the Haggard house belongs at the Kern County Museum with or without Merle's help. It certainly deserves the kind of attention it would get at the museum.
