I woke up Nov. 10 to find that somebody had broken out my van's driver-side window and ransacked the inside. I called the police and was told that due to the increase of this type of crime, I should just make an online report on the Bakersfield Police Department website. They didn't have time to come out.

Are they that busy on a Sunday morning? They couldn't send out someone -- anyone -- to at least check for fingerprints? We pay our taxes to have protection from crimes, but when things like this happen, we are brushed off by the police. We had a problem with the van before, and even knew who did it, when a large dent was kicked into the driver's side rear seat door. Even with the footprint clearly there and fingerprints visible, nothing was done. So why are we paying for police?
