I truly enjoyed following the information about last weekend's Relay for Life. I would like to thank The Californian for its extensive coverage about the importance of community involvement. I am so proud of our neighbors and all the individuals that went out to support people in our community that are fighting cancer. I know all of the effort the newspaper put into the coverage of such a positive event was a substantial factor in the amount of donations earned. In no way do I want to take away from all of the hard leg work put in by individual teams, but I do want to acknowledge your work as well.
Growing up in Bakersfield, I have come to know this community as being a very generous, caring one. I'm pleased to say I'm from Bakersfield, and I'm even more pleased when I get to read about amazing events such as this in our local paper. It brings me much pride in knowing your extensive effort to spread the accomplishments of our local businesses and fellow citizens. For it is their hard work that makes Relay for Life a success, and your advertising that enhances their ability to continue each year.
All of The Californian's coverage is adding to the fight against cancer, and I know we will one day find a cure. Thank you again, and I hope to see continued coverage of the event for many years to come.
