We already breathe some of the worst air in the nation. Yet the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District will give a permit to the proposed Hydrogen Energy California coal plant near Buttonwillow to add hundreds of tons of new emissions into our already polluted air. What we breathe will be significantly dirtier because the valley air district will allow HECA to buy mitigation "offsets" to overlook the pollution from 350 truckloads of coal it will cook up daily.

A hearing is set to address the public's concerns about these so-called "offsets" and how they are supposed to "benefit" us and make the air we breathe cleaner and safer. Please attend the hearing and let the air district know how you feel; it will be held at 6 p.m. April 2 at the air district office at 34946 Flyover Court, just west of Highway 65, near Meadows Field.
