Regarding the Feb. 19 Sounding Board article, "If only we could all issue driving citations": My pet peeve while driving is a smart driving and courtesy issue. When I see a sign that says "Right lane closed ahead," I move to the left at the first possible safe time.
At Coffee Road and Calloway Drive, we've had longtime lane closures and many people stay in the lane that is closing and seem to feel it is their right just to have traffic slow and let them merge into the open lane. They could have easily moved over before and all traffic would move smoothly.
This is especially important on the freeway. If everyone would move over when safe at the first notice of a lost lane, most times traffic would move smoothly instead of coming to a stop.
