Recently, I drove to the Kern County Public Health Services Department to get a flu shot. When I walked into the building, I saw at least 150 men, women and children standing in line in an enclosed room waiting to get flu shots. Folks, what's wrong with this picture?

The probability that one or more of these people already has the flu or has been exposed is great. Wouldn't the professionals at the health department already know this? I was amazed at the lack of judgment and common sense used by these people. The vaccine is used to prevent the flu, not to promote the spread of or exposure to the flu.

In my view, the health department wasted vaccine and exposed otherwise healthy people to the epidemic of flu.

What happened to the days when a person could go through a drive-thru, stick his arm out the window and get a flu shot?
