In District Attorney Lisa Green's recent Another View piece ("Vote no on Prop. 34: Death penalty is the cost of justice," Oct. 8), she states: "The truth is, in California no innocent individual has been executed." That is stated as a matter of fact, not opinion.
How exactly does she know that in the 162 years California has been a state that no innocent person has ever been executed? While the statement may be true, lack of contradictory evidence is not in itself proof the statement is correct. I would think that someone whose job requires the use of evidence, logic and words would know that.
If, on the other hand, she thinks, for whatever reasons, everyone is guilty of something, then heaven help us all.
