A single-family home in Shafter was completely destroyed by fire Friday evening, displacing two adult residents.
According to a news release from the Kern County Fire Department, the house at 737 Mayer Lane was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene at about 7:12 p.m.
Crews used attack lines to extinguish the fire, the release said, but power lines were down and a gas line was exposed.
Special units from Bakersfield were called in to help.
Two adult residents of the home were assisted by the American Red Cross-Kern Chapter. There were no reported injuries.
