It's amazing what you can see when you slow down, get out of the car and just look around.

There are many places in Kern County to do that and the Kern River Canyon is no exception.

The canyon is a wonderful place to explore. Different times of the day offer a variety of lighting, especially for photos.

Scenic shots are always a good start before moving on to animals such as bobcat and deer, the dragonflies skimming on top of the Kern River, ducks, lizards and snakes (and watch out for the rattlesnakes, especially this time of year).

It's amazing what you can see when you slow down.
