Fresh off its first three-game series sweep since the start of the season, Cal State Bakersfield plays host to third-ranked Cal Poly at 6 tonight at Hardt Field in a non-conference game.

The Mustangs (30-5) are No. 3 in both the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball polls this week, the highest ranked team the Roadrunners have faced in their six-year baseball history. Cal Poly is No. 4 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll.

South Carolina was the previous highest ranked team Bakersfield faced when it was No. 4 when it hosted the Roadrunners in a 2011 series.

The Mustangs are red hot. They've won six straight, 12 of 13 and 20 of 22.

Tonight's scheduled starting pitchers are Cal Poly's Justin Calomeni (6-1, 3.80 ERA) against CSUB's Alec Daily (1-1, 6.20).

CSUB's three-game sweep vs. Chicago State last weekend propelled the Roadrunners (14-19 overall) to a 7-5 Western Athletic Conference record and into a tie for fifth place with Utah Valley. Cal Poly is 8-1 in the Big West Conference.

Bakersfield Christian graduate Casey Bloomquist, a sophomore right-handed pitcher who is not expected to pitch tonight after throwing 6-2/3 innings in an 8-3 win at Hawaii on Sunday, leads Cal Poly with eight wins and a 1.58 ERA.
