KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Tyonna Outland scored 27 points and Dajy Vines added 18 to lead Cal State Bakersfield to an 87-80 Western Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Mo.-Kansas City on Saturday afternoon.

The Roadrunners (10-8, 4-2 WAC) led 41-40 at halftime but bell behind when the Kangeroos (7-13, 3-4) scored 10 straight points early in the second half.

CSUB went ahead for good on Vines' 3-pointer with 8:44 left in the game.

Alyssa Shannon added 13 points and eight rebounds and Brooklynn Hinkens scored 11 points for Bakersfield. Eilise O'Connor had a game-high 31 points for Kansas City.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Mitchell Huxhold has Cal State Bakersfield's top performances at a tri-meet at UNLV.

Huxhold placed second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:43.88), second in the 500 free (4:35.35) and swam a season-best 46.89 when placing sixth in the 100 free. He also anchored CSUB's fifth-place 400 free relay team (3:07.97).

No. 23 UNLV beat the Roadrunners 217-74 and Air Force downed CSUB 224-75.

In the women's competition, CSUB freshman Paola Hernandez was a double winner, placing first with a season-bests in the 200 free (1:52.71) and 100 free (51.72). She was fourth in her first 50 free race of the season (24.32) and anchored CSUB's second-place 400 free relay (3:32.07).

Michaela Paige won the 200 butterfly in a season-best 2:05.53 and she was second in the 100 fly (56.48). Freshman Carlee Burks out of Centennial High won the women's 1-meter diving event (228.10).

CSUB lost to UNLV 179-120 and lost to Air Force 190-109.

Track and field

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- CSUB opened its indoor season Friday night and Saturday at the Northern Arizona Invitational.

Marina Emhoff won her 400-meter heat and placed 13th overall out of 22 runners with a 58.47. LaShya Morgan was ninth out of 17 in the mile (5:29.26). Audrena Harlan had a mark of 5 meters to win her long jump heat and place ninth out of 16.

NBA D-League

Great games from Top Prospect Ike Diogu, 32 points and nine rebounds, and Suns assignee Archie Goodwin, 27 points, weren't enough as the Bakersfield Jam lost big to the Reno Bighorns, 122-98, at the Dignity Healthy Event Center.
