A motorist was killed Friday evening after driving into a parked vehicle in east Bakersfield.

Daniel Cervantes, 18, of Bakersfield, suffered blunt force trauma in the 9:39 p.m. crash and died a short while later at Kern Medical Center, according to California Highway Patrol officers and the Kern County coroner's office.

Officers said Cervantes was driving east on Center Street when he struck a vehicle legally parked along the south curb east of Rembrandt Street. He was not wearing a seat belt.
