Cracker Barrel, the countrified chain of restaurants and gift shops, is the driving force behind an expanded version of "Bakersfield," the album of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard songs Vince Gill and Paul Franklin released last year.
"Bakersfield: Deluxe Edition" will be released Jan. 27 at Cracker Barrel and feature four additional songs themed around Owens, Haggard and the Bakersfield Sound they helped inspire.
"This project has been a labor of love for me and Paul," Gill said to Great American Country. "Paul and I both love the 'Bakersfield' sound that Buck and Merle represent. We are excited that Cracker Barrel Old Country Store approached us to create this special Deluxe Edition of Bakersfield because it allowed us to go back and record some additional songs we think everyone will enjoy."
The four new songs are:
* An Owens song titled "Your Tender Loving Care."
* "Buckin' Merle," an instrumental written by Gill.
* A Haggard song titled "I Threw Away the Rose."
* "High on a Hilltop," a Tommy Collins song made famous by Haggard.
"Bakersfield: Deluxe Edition" will be sold at Cracker Barrel outlets and crackerbarrel.com (pre-order for $11.99 + $7.99 shipping here). A digital version of will be available the next day at iTunes and Amazon.
