New media pioneer Randi Zuckerberg will deliver the keynote address at the 25th annual Bakersfield Women's Business Conference, event organizers announced Wednesday.
Zuckerberg, former director of market development at Facebook, a social media company co-founded by her brother Mark, is to be preceded at the podium by another Internet trailblazer, Shira Lazar, host and executive producer of the daily YouTube show "What's Trending."
Speaking to reporters at a morning news conference, event Chairwoman Kathryn Mears praised both women's leadership in the development of new media, which she and another organizer linked to the theme of this year's conference, "The Next Twenty Five Years."
"We all recognize that, going forward, it's all about new media," said Marketing Committee Co-chairwoman Elaine McNearney, founder of Dress for Success, a Bakersfield nonprofit that provides professional attire and other help for women in need.
The business conference is set for April 24 at the Rabobank Convention Center. There are to be more than 70 workshops.
Event sponsors include Chevron, State Farm, Urner's, Aera Energy LLC and The Bakersfield Californian. Information is available online at Facebook.com/BakersfieldWomen.
