Two women were bitten inside a Rosedale area home Wednesday after a medical emergency excited one of the homeowner's three dogs.

Deputies said both women were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment. A 21-year-old woman suffered "severe" dog bites to both arms, and a 22-year-old woman suffered a single bite to her left arm.

The incident happened at 8:55 a.m. in the 1900 block of Kathryn Court. Deputies said Kern County Animal Control officers took custody of the family's dogs and placed them in quarantine.

An investigation is ongoing.
