The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrested a 21-year-old man after a home invasion and assault in Oildale Friday afternoon.
A woman called Kern County Sheriff's deputies about 2:47 p.m. Friday about a possible burglary in progress in the 100 block of McKelvey Avenue in Oildale.
The woman reported hearing glass break at the front of her residence, deputies said.
As she approached her front door, she saw the glass to her front door had been broken out and an unknown adult male, later identified as Marcus Gray, 21, was running away, deputies said.
As the homeowner went to another room, Gray re-entered the residence and told her to deactivate an alarm that was going off, deputies said. When the homeowner refused, Gray assaulted her and fled, deputies said. The homeowner sustained minor injuries.
Authorities located Gray about one block away at the corner of Merle Haggard Drive and North Chester Avenue, deputies said.
Gray was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Central Receiving Facility on suspicion of robbery, burglary, battery, and intimidating a victim.
His bail has been set at $205,000.
