Charges were dismissed Friday against a former Kern County sheriff's deputy who'd been accused of falsifying time sheets and defrauding the county of $3,300 in pay and benefits.

Prosecutor Richard Harrold said the charges against Kacie Brooke Craven were dismissed because she had paid back the money she was overpaid, and she's no longer in a position of trust. She'd faced three felony embezzlement charges.

Deputies arrested Craven, who was 25 at the time, on June 2, 2011 after an audit showed she had submitted time sheets reflecting she worked on days that she hadn't. Craven had been a three-year veteran of the department.
