Giovanni Godoy's goal with 3:54 remaining in the second half gave Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer coach Simon Tobin his 300th career victory as the Roadrunners defeated San Jose State 1-0 Friday night.

Jonathan Colunga a late CSUB sub, sent a long ball to Godoy, who beat Spartans' keeper Emmanuel Espinosa from 10 yards.

"San Jose State is always a tough team for us," said Tobin in a news release. "They play a little bit of a different style than us and they are quite good at it. It was good for us to face them. I thought we had the better game and deserved to win. Giovanni Godoy is a freshman who has a big future ahead of him. We have put three good performances in a row together and I think we will finish the season quite strong."

Tobin becomes the 16th active Division I men's soccer coach with at least 300 victories in a career and is only the 91st in the history of NCAA men's soccer (at all levels) to win at least 300 in a career. Tobin is 300-186-54 as the Roadrunners coach.

"I didn't know I had 300 wins," Tobin said. "If you coach anywhere long enough, you are going to get a lot of wins. I have been here 27 years, but it's nice."
