A fundraiser for breast cancer causes will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 at La Mina Cantina, 8020 District Blvd. in southwest Bakersfield, organizers said.
Activities include a local manicurist painting pink nail designs, hair stylists providing pink hair extensions, and a raffle, with the proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
La Mina Cantina will donate 50 percent of profits from appetizer platters purchased during the event to the cause.

Kaiser Permanente said Friday
its Medicare health plan in California has received the highest rating possible for quality and service, 5 stars, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The company said CMS assigns scores based on more than 50 care and service quality measures across nine categories, including staying healthy, managing chronic conditions, member satisfaction, customer service and pharmacy services.
It said the Kaiser Medicare plans in the Northern and Southern California regions are the only ones in the state to receive the top rating.
"These ratings reflect the high quality care our physicians and employees provide to our members every day," Dr. Julia Bae, Kern County area medical director, said in a news release.
