Links for Life will host its annual Paint the Town Pink luncheon and fashion show, "You Are A Star," to raise money in the fight against breast cancer.
Clothing, jewelery and home decor will be available starting at 10 a.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court.
The models will be local breast cancer survivors and McCright Agency models, a Links for Life news release said.
You can trick-or-treat your way around the CALM zoo this year and experience a Halloween with your favorite animals.
Boo-at-the-Zoo is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in the "spooktacular" games around the zoo, a CALM news release said.
There will be food and beverage booths as well as wildlife presentations and animal encounters. The bounce house and rides on the Central California Children's Railroad are $1.
Children up to 12 years old (with an adult entrance fee) and CALM members pay no entrance fee. Adult tickets are $9.

Bakersfield College's first major event of its celebration of 100 years is the Centennial Gala -- a day before BC's homecoming football game.
Being held at the Gil Bishop Sports Center at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25, college alumni can enjoy dinner catered and designed by the BC Culinary Arts students. There will be live music from Thee Majestics, dancing, a live auction and a walk down memory lane, a college news release said.
Tickets for the gala are $150 per person or $1,100 for a table of eight.

Applications are being accepted now through Oct. 31 for the Kern County Network for Children's 2014 Leadership Development Program.
The leadership program includes 56 hours of instruction time in nine subjects. Classes are taught by trainers with expertise in public speaking, time management, strategic planning, resource development and more, a KCNC news release said.
Once accepted into the program, the fee is $85. Class scholarships are available.
