LAS CRUCES, N.M. --New Mexico State outhit and outblocked Cal State Bakersfield on Mondaynight on the way to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 victory in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match.

The 'Runners (8-8, 1-2 WAC) led 16-12 at one point in set three, but NM State (7-8, 2-0) went on a 6-0 run on the way to a win.

The Aggies out hit the Roadrunners .257-.039 and held a 27-5 advantage in blocks.

Fernanda Goncalves led CSUB with 27 assists.

Kelsee Sawyer paced CSUB with 11 kills. Mariah Alvidrez had 12 digs while Danika Youngblood added 11 digs.

After 16 matches on the road, the Roadrunners play their home opener Thursday, hosting Chicago State at 7 p.m.

JC women's golf

MORRO BAY -- Kendall Huser shot an 82 as the Bakersfield College women's golf team placed ninth in the two-day Morro Bay Invitational at Morro Bay Municipal Golf Course.

Huser (85-82--167) placed 17th individually. BC's Jessica Madrid shot an 86 to finish at 178.

Canada College won the 20-team tournament with Sarah Rotter leading the way with a final-round 73 and tournament-low 150.
