Bakersfield Police released this photo of a suspect they say tried to pay for items with an EBT card that did not belong to him at the AM/PM at 3333 Union Ave. on Aug. 20. Police reported that when the card was refused, the suspect ran from the store with the items and a store employee chased him. But then, the BPD reported, the suspect brandished a large knife.

Bakersfield Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a Union Avenue store last month and threatening an employee.

The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the AM/PM at 3333 Union Ave. Police said a man tried to pay for several items with an EBT card that did not belong to him.

When the card was refused, he fled the store with several items, including two cartons of cigarettes. A store employee pursued until the suspect allegedly threatened the employee with a knife.

The suspect is described as white, in his mid to late 20s, between 6 feet 3 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall, about 200 pounds with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a white, short-sleeved T-shirt with a black design, blue jean shorts and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the BPD at 327-7111 or Detective M. Hilliard at 326-3501.
