Vinny Appice returns to Bakersfield for the third time in three years for a drumming clinic at Guitar Center.

Legendary rock drummer Vinny Appice apparently has such a good time in Bakersfield, he's returning for what looks to be his third trip in three years.

The hard-hitting drummer -- a veteran of Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven & Hell, among other high-profile professional accomplishments -- will be performing, instructing and interacting with the audience at Guitar Center Bakersfield, 3428 Ming Ave., on Wednesday.

The event marks Appice's second trip to the local music shop; he held a clinic there -- to a capacity crowd -- in 2010.

His most recent trip to Bakersfield was just last fall, when he performed at Narducci's with his band Kill Devil Hill, an all-star crew of fellow headbangers: bassist Rex Brown (Pantera, Down) guitarist Mark Zavon (Ratt, WASP) and lead vocalist Dewey Bragg.

The Guitar Center event starts at 7 p.m., and space is limited. Admission is free. Management advises getting there early and bringing earplugs.
