This black and white dog is taken it easy and awaiting adoption from the county animal control on S. Mt. Vernon Avenue. This is one of rows of animals that are looking for a good home. This is why it's important to be responsible animals owners and to take care of the animals you have.

Kern County Animal Control will discount adoption fees for dogs and cats during a six-day special event next week.

The "Make A Match To Save A Life" event will run Monday through Saturday and feature adoption fees as low as $15 to $20 for dogs and $5 to $10 for cats.

The extra $5 savings comes from participation in activities at the county animal shelter.

"We have a number of wonderful animals in our shelters that need loving homes," said Shyanne Schull, deputy director of Kern County Animal Control.

All animals adopted will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed and fitted with an identification microchip.

Interested adopters can visit the shelter website at to view adoptable animals.
